In-Person and Online Counselling

Psychotherapy is an intimate process. We all have different preferences for the way we like to connect with others, especially when sharing deeply personal information. Busy schedules can also limit our ability to arrange appointments – causing us to miss out on chances to address self-care.

Because I’m deeply aware of these limitations, I offer a wide variety of options for ways we can connect within your comfort zone and at your convenience.

Online Counselling from Anywhere in Canada

Online counselling through video platforms offers many of the same benefits as in-person counselling, but with the added flexibility of being able to see me from the comfort of your own home or office. Online video counselling is great for those who like to ‘see’ the person they’re talking with, but find it difficult to fit in the time to commute, wait, and be seen in person.

Online counselling is also a good option for anyone who doesn’t live in the Ottawa Valley; I can see clients online from anywhere in Canada.

Telephone Counselling

Phone counselling, or telecounselling, is a great option for those who want flexible and easy access to therapy. Telecounselling provides a personal, ‘real-time’ experience with a particular emphasis on listening versus being distracted by looking at a screen or dealing with the technological issues that come with trying to make microphones and cameras work on your computer.

Telephone counselling is also a good option for anyone who doesn’t live in the Ottawa Valley; I can call clients anywhere in Canada.

In-Person Counselling in the Ottawa Valley

In-person counselling is facilitated in my office face-to-face. Seeing each other face-to-face helps to increase the connection between us, therapist and client. This is because seeing each other in-person allows me to read non-verbal cues, which are sometimes missed through other delivery methods.

In-person psychotherapy can also provide a safe space for you to open up about your background and emotions without worrying that anyone is listening in as a result of connecting from home.

In Person counselling can happen in either my Ottawa office located in the West end or in my office in the town of Perth, ON.

Email Exchange

Secure email exchange is ideal for you if you enjoy taking the time to reflect on your words and communicate in a more relaxed and reflective fashion. In an email exchange, you write to me about your concerns or challenges in life and I respond and offer guidance.

Similar to in-person and online therapy, I spend 60 minutes responding to your email and always respond within 48 hours of receiving it. Communicating through email has the added benefit of maintaining a record of our discussions, which you can save to reflect on further when life gets tough and you need gentle reminders.
